外科在醫學學門中陽剛屬性最鮮明，女醫師在外科的人數也最少。本文以女外科醫師劉宗瑀和白映俞的散文為研究對象，透過樣板主義（tokenism）觀察性別少數的女醫師在外科的處境和策略。本文發現，由於女外科的能見度高，所以力求表現，甚至會壓抑生理不適，避免被保護而落入弱者的位置。同時，要小心過度嶄露頭角，以降低男醫師的反感。而女外科除了代表自己，還被當成「女性代表」，作為女性能否勝任外科的例證。其次，女外科往往被視為干擾者，因此為了打入男性的圈子，她們配合既有的男性文化，例如講黃色笑話，甚至發表對女性的偏見，以此表達對支配者觀點的接受。但，女外科在不斷配合外科體制的運作後，卻於懷孕育兒之際離開。這凸顯陽剛組織男性中心的取向，以及社會性別分工的問題，導致女外科的職涯承擔更多的考量。

Surgery is the most masculine expertise among medical disciplines, and the number of female surgeons in Department of Surgery is also the lowest. This study took the essays of female surgeons Tsung-Yu Lisa Liu and Yingyu Bai as the research objects and observed the situations and strategies of gender minority female surgeons in Department of Surgery through tokenism. This study found that due to the high visibility of female surgeons, they strive to perform well and even suppress their physical discomfort to avoid being protected and falling into the position of the weak. Meanwhile, female surgeons also have to be careful about overprominence in order to reduce the resentment of male surgeons. Firstly, in addition to representing themselves, female surgeons are also regarded as "female representatives" and serve as examples of whether women can be competent in Department of Surgery. Secondly, female surgeons are often regarded as disruptors. Therefore, in order to break into the male circle, they cooperate with the existing male culture, such as telling dirty jokes or even expressing prejudice against women to express their acceptance of the dominant views. However, after female surgeons constantly cooperate with the operation of the surgical system, they usually leave when they are pregnant and raising children. This fact reveals t the male-centered orientation of masculine organizations and the problem of gender division of labor in society, resulting in the career of female surgeons to bear more burdens of considerations.
