跌倒造成病患傷害及醫療花費之增加。在講究醫療品質的二十一世紀，面對高居不下的跌倒意外事件，莫不讓醫院護理人員感到龐大的壓力。本文藉由文獻查證提出以下幾個新觀念，期望能提供護理人員預防跌倒之參考：一、藉由危險因子之調查提供跌倒危險因子之辨識，二、介紹馬里蘭醫院協會所推行的跌倒指標，三、介紹「非蓄意性傷害危險：跌倒」護理診斷，最後提出護理成果分類及護理措施。
