英文摘要

Human milk is the best nutrition source for newborns. However, successful breastfeeding needs extreme persistence and energy. In this paper, we described the problems experienced by a mother who initially intended to breastfeed her baby after undergoing a cesarean section. These problems included a painful wound, ineffective breastfeeding, and feelings of tiredness and exhaustion, making her give up breastfeeding. The authors utilized the Gorden 11-item functional health pattern to evaluate her health condition at first, and then performed twelve interviews with the mother along with clinical observations. Various nursing measures were provided to assist the mother, including sufficient support to satisfy her emotional, informational, and other needs. The mother then began to regenerate interest in breastfeeding and gained a sense of accomplishment. In addition, her families, who initially held a negative view of breastfeeding, had also turned their attitudes positively. This article provides a reference of caring similar patients with the hope that more mothers could benefit from nurses* assistance when learning to breastfeed.
