中文摘要

地名也是一種文字符號,這種符號對於尚未完整接受地圖專業訓練的中、小學生是最易懂且易接受的訊息。它可直按透過地名查找輕易快速找到所需目標,也可藉由地名字體粗細、大小等級的不同,清楚地了解地圖中不同性質地名的類型(山脈、河流、城市)及同類型地名的等級(河流主、主流之分),更使其他抽象符號的內涵表達清晰。因此,有鑒於地名的在地圖上正確的表現,對這些初次接觸地圖的中、小學生而言是非常重要,因為不正確的地名安排,不但會傳遞錯誤的訊息,也可能降低孩童學習的興趣。因此,本文的目的是希望製圖者能多以兒童的思維模式去編輯適合孩子閱讀的地圖。

英文摘要

An annotation is a kind of symbol. For a young student who has never been taught to read the map, such symbol is an easiest way to catch the message from map. They usually find the target place by searching the annotation. Moreover, they can easily identify the different kind of annotation by the font size, color, thickness, etc. Besides, they can directly identify the same kind but different level annotation by the same way, such as main stream and tributary. With place name, the abstract symbol can be expressed clearer. As stated above, we can understand the importance of the annotation on map, especially for the young students. A poor arrangement of annotation on the map will not only deliver the wrong message, but also lower down the interest of reading map. Therefore, this paper is trying to suggest the cartographer to make the map for children from children's view.
