     1990年筆者在中興大學歷史系開始講授的「影視史學」,是國內一門嶄新的課程。「影視史學」一詞借用自美國史家懷特(Hayden White)所創的“historiophoty”。然而,筆者所謂的「影視史學」並不限於電影和電視。任何以靜態或動態的圖像傳達人們對於過去事實的認知,都算是影像視覺的歷史文本,而對這些文本的思維和論述所做的探討分析就是「影視史學」。為了促使「影視史學」成為一門學問,多年來這門課程的主旨都與知識論有關;在課堂中進行討論時,也舉實例,並將時代環境背景合併納入思考。最近四年,筆者所訂的課程教學目標有:(一)認識影視歷史文化的變遷;(二)探討影視與當代人文思維的關係;(三)建構影視與新史學的理論。本文除了反省上述三項教學目標外,也討論「影視史學」在大學課程中的定位問題。這門課可以歸屬於「史學史和史學思想」的學程,也可以成為「歷史教育」學程或「大眾歷史」(public history)學程中的一部份。當然,這門課隨著定位的不同,它的教學主旨和內容也應有所調整。本文對此提出個人的意見,以供關心歷史教育的人士參考。 

英文摘要

"Historiophoty," a new term created by Hayden White in 1988, means "the representation of history and our thought about it in visual images and filmic discourse." Inspired by his idea, I offered a new course, "Historiopboty," for the Department of History, Chung-Hsing University, Taichung, Taiwan, since the fall semster of 1990.
 In order to develop ""Historiophoty"" as a new realm of knowledge or field of historical studies, I concentrate my lectures on the problems relating to historical epistemology and visual historical texts. Thus the main themes of this course are: (1) to understand the development of visual historical texts; (2) to analyze modern historical thinkings through visual images and filmic discourse; (3) to establish a new theory of historical knowledge which treats verbal, visual and written texts as representations of historical discourse.
 \"Historiophoty" is one course in the curriculums of the Program of Historiography and Historical Thought at the history department. This paper shows my reflections on this new area of historical studies. Moreover, it suggests how to offer ""Historiophoty"" as a course in the program of Historical Education or in the program of Public History.
