欲將聖經翻譯擺進神學典範（theological paradigm）中，勢必要面對幾個關鍵議題。在本篇論文中，我不打算提供涉及神學和翻譯問題的答案，而是點出一些議題，說明翻譯不可能抽離神學的情況。

It is inevitable that Bible translators come to their task with theologicalassumptions about what translation is and how translation of the Bible should bedone. Bible readers also have their theological assumptions which establish whatthey expect of translations and what they will accept in new ones. This articleattempts to identify a number of theological issues involved in the decision andreception of Bible translation. Theological assumptions about language, aboutcommunication, about translation, and about the Bible, will be examinedrespectively. This raises the question of theological distortion of “literalism” , whichwill be discussed in the last section, and I propose that it is more adequate to think oftranslations according to the interplay between the “accessibility” they provide andthe “distortion” they create.
