The aim of this research is to delimit the units of a text in Biblical Hebrewbased on syntactical analysis. A text-linguistic approach that seeks to analyze thestructure of a text in general terms and categories that are part of the Hebrewlanguage as a system is proposed. It begins by defining the clause according to thetype of the predicate, word order, the conjugation of the verbal predicate, as well asinter-clausal conjunction. Next Hebrew syntax on the level of clause and beyond isexamined. This study concerns especially the notion of sequence. It is a series ofclauses that share some of the syntactically significant features, introduced and/orended by a sequence or a clause that does not share its sameness. By analyzingclausal relations, it is argued that the coherence of a text could be accounted for andthe structure of a text could be determined. This text-linguistic method is applied tothe text of Micah 1.
