軟體定義網路(SDN)技術近來已成為網路通訊相關產業熱門的新興領域， 甚至被普遍視為下一世代的網路技術核心，然而國內對於SDN的研究及討論尚處於初始起步階段，有鑒於此，本文期望經由介紹數個SDN應用案例及重要應用方向，包括：網路功能虛擬化、流量工程、網路虛擬化及網路監控，來突顯SDN的核心技術特點及其如何突破傳統網路架構的限制，使網路通訊產業相關研發人員能夠更加認識、理解SDN， 進而規劃未來的技術研究或產品開發藍圖。

The software-defined networking technology (SDN) emerges to be considered as core technology of next-generation networking. In this study, we investigate in use cases of four types of SDN applications, including network functions virtualization, traffic engineering, network virtualization and network monitoring. We expect that through illustrating the characteristics and advantages of SDN technology, this study is helpful to the computer networking-related industry in Taiwan in further investigation of SDN solutions.
