This study focus on different sources of medical information for studying abroad students and compares their accuracy, diversity, and efficiency. Through a questionnaire survey, we tried to find out how to strengthen and improve the existing sources of medical information, and provide relevant recommendations. Self-administered questionnaires were given to students who visited the travel clinics at one medical center in Taipei for studying abroad from April to September of 2011. There were a total of 229 participants, with a questionnaire response rate of 91.6%. Statistical methods were used to analyze the data. There was a significant higher percentage of female students who planned on studying abroad compared to male students. A large proportion of students wanted to pursue master’s degree (37.6%), followed by college degree (29.6%). More than half of the students understood the details of the school examination including physical checkup and vaccination requirement (60.7%). Students generally agreed that the best way to obtain medical information is through medical institution and medical professionals as compared to obtaining medical information through the internet, however, the former offers less diversity and is harder to access. We suggested the establishment of specialized study abroad website by medical institution to provide relevant medical details, or "Q & A" service, providing other linked search sites, which will help students going abroad get the most accurate, diverse, and efficient medical information.
