A 66-year-old woman with a history of epilepsy and dementia received Tc-99m TRODAT-1 SPECT study to evaluate the function of nigrostriatal system. Unexpectedly, a focal area of radiotracer uptake in right frontal region was noted. By fusing the SPECT images with CT, the focal radioactivity was located in a well-defined osteolytic lesion in the right part of frontal bone. Her brain MRI demonstrated an ovalshaped calvarial tumor without surrounding edema, which was considered to be a benign lesion and hemangioma was the conclusive diagnosis according to ib radiological characteristics. Apart from the nigrostriatal system, we found a benign calvarial tumor would strongly accumulate TRODAT-1.
