基督教的道德金律和孔子的忠恕之道在表述上有著驚人的相似。隨著基督教在當代倫理學中式微,普遍公正原則成為解釋道德金律的主流路徑,其結果是,道德金律被發展為一套以可類比性為基礎的權利式話語。與之相對,孔子的忠恕之道則表現為關愛原則,以行動者和受動者之間身份是否可逆作為是否應當行動的標準。由於以可類比性基礎,普遍公正原則的有效性限於可類比項,而人際間存在極大的不對等,因此它只具有消極的適用,即不干涉他人的行動自由和不主動傷害他人。關愛原則以移情作為機制,既要求克制自己,不傷害他人,也要求積極主動幫助他人。這是孔子的忠恕之道和關愛原則的實踐優勢。

英文摘要

There is an amazing similarity between the Golden Rule and Confucius’ Thread of Zhong-Shu. With the decline of Christianity in the Contemporary Ethics, the Principle of Universal Justice has become a main approach in interpreting the Golden Rule, the product of which is a right-theory grounded on what are analogous. By contrast, Confucius’ Thread of Zhong-Shu is a principle of care, whose applicability depends on whether the roles of the agent and of the recipient are reversible. Based on what are analogous, the application of Principle of Universal Justice is limited to the analogous; and due to huge inequalities between social persons, it can only be applied in the negative sense, namely, not interfering others’ freedom and not actively harming others. The principle of care manifests the mechanism of empathy, which requires not only we constrain ourselves and not harm others, but also that we should actively help those in need of help. And it is the practical advantage of Principle of Care over Principle of Universal Justice.
