在2007年11月Google推出一個軟體開發平台-Android。Android是一個基於Linux作業平台下的軟體開發系統平台,主要用來作為開發行動裝置的發展平台,並且所有的程式碼都是可公開自由下載。Android 提供一套多媒體框架來整合所有軟體模組或演算法,讓應用程式能夠銜接各種多媒體標準,且達到易移植。然而,目前Android的系統運算負載量還是由MPU在負擔,龐大的運算負載量使得多媒體的播放效能還尚未能達到即時效能(real-time performance)。因此,我們整合工研院自行研發的PAC數位多媒體訊號處理器與Android軟體平台,以PAC數位多媒體訊號處理器執行AAC解壓縮與H.264解壓縮功能,並平行化其解壓縮流程,使其達到即時播放之效能。

英文摘要

In 2007, Google launched a software development platform – Android which is a Linux-based operating software development system. It is mainly used for the mobile devices and all of the codes are public for free download. Android provides a multimedia framework to integrate all the software modules, algorithms and devices drivers, so that various multimedia applications with respect to different standards could be easily transplanted. In general, the performance of Android system is dependent on the computing power of MPU it used. However due to requirement of the heavy computing power for multimedia, real time performance requirement is hard to achieve. In this work, our proprietary PACDSP AAC/H264 decoder is integrated into the Android software platform to enable the AVC parallel decoding process. The simulation results show that the performance of the real time playback can be easily achieved.
