People of the KanakanaVu Tribe now live mostly along the banks of the Nanzixian River of Namasia District, Kaohsiung City. The tribe had started communicating with the world since the time when the Hollanders occupied and ruled Taiwan. What’s more, events concerning the tribe had been recorded and documented by officials and scholars arriving in Taiwan during the time from the Ching dynasty to Japanese ruling. However, after the devastating Typhoon Morakot, a lot of sub-tribes and cultural relics were ruined and lost. For the KanakanaVu Tribe, Kid toys function not only as a pastime but as an important medium conducive to the development of body and mind of the tribal children. The nature-made and hand-made toys contribute a lot to the cultivation in children of important skills required in daily life.
