市場研究報告指出,超過50%的通話與超過60%的行動通訊行為是發生於室內,因此室內無線覆蓋率及傳輸品質的提升,會是電信業者的重要議題。佈建微小型基地台(Femtocell AccessPoint;FAP)網路是一有效地解決方案。3GPP為微小型基地台網路提出區域私有網路存取(Local IPAccess; LIPA)機制,令使用者可經由FAP直接存取其私有網路,而其傳輸資料不須繞經核心網路。然而此機制缺乏支援使用者全域性移動的能力。全域性私有網路(universal LIPA;uLIPA)機制因而被提出以解決LIPA使用者存取不便、行動通訊範圍受限、以及服務連續性不佳的問題。本論文提出了四種uLIPA方法與數學分析模型,用來評估全域私有網路服務之傳輸效能。本論文將所提出的uLIPA方法與以常見的虛擬私人網路(Virtual Private Network;VPN)技術為基礎的uLIPA方法作了效能比較。研究發現,除了本論文提出的IP位址對應(IP Address Mapping;IPAM)方法,其他uLIPA方法皆會造成大量的傳輸負載;其影響對如G.729語音通話等以小封包為主的服務尤其明顯。經由分析數據可知,IPAM方法在無線與有線傳輸效能上皆優於其他方法

英文摘要

According to the market research, more than 50% of voice calls and 60% of the wireless traffic dataoriginate in the indoor environment, and to improve the indoor radio coverage and transmission qualitybecomes a major issue. One possibility is to deploy the indoor Femtocell Access Points (FAPs). The 3GPPproposed the Local IP Access (LIPA) service for femtocell that allows UEs access their home LIPA networksdirectly through the FAPs rather than traversing the core network. However, the LIPA service cannot beaccessed from the User Equipments (UEs) within the visited networks. The universal LIPA (uLIPA) is thenintroduced to support the user mobility and service continuity for roaming UEs. This paper proposed fouruLIPA approaches, and the analytic model is introduced to investigate the performance for the uLIPA service.We compared their performance with the well-known prior solution, Virtual Private Network (VPN). Our studyindicates that except our porposed IP Address Mapping (IPAM) approach, the other uLIPA schemes bringsignificant overhead for those services with small-sized IP packets, e.g., the popular G.729 VoIP service. Thisstudy quantitatively shows that for both radio and wire transmission, the IPAM scheme outperforms the otherapproaches.
