近十年來受電腦資訊與網際網路的影響，與電腦地圖和GIS地圖有關的論文有明顯增加的趨勢。雖然至今我國都沒有授於地圖專業學位，但長久以來就有地理和測繪等相關科系持續灌注地圖的研究之外，經常也會發現其他領域在進行地圖學相關的相究課題。這些會研究地圖的領域究竟有多少？其研究的方向又如何？值得地圖學界來重視與探討。為探討台灣地區本土地圖學術研究的發展，本文試圖利用全國博碩士地圖相關的論文，分析這些地圖學發展的現象。本文針對國內1977-2003年間，有關地圖研究之115篇博碩士論文，進行地圖分類、系所、年度、學位類別、論文名稱和關鍵詞等變數的分析。研究結果顯示台灣地區的地圖博碩士論文，如同期刊發表的地圖論文持續增加，兩者之間有高度的相關性。以年代別分析各地圖類別的發展，顯示與GIS地圖、電腦地圖、認知地圖和地圖教育等相關課題皆有增加的趨勢。又因電腦地圖軟體的快速發展，也影響到越來越多相關的領域對地圖研究的興趣，使地圖的研究課題更趨向多元化的發展。

For decades, under the influence of the computer information and the internet, cartography-related papers about computer mappings and GIS maps have been increasing evidently. Until now, there is no given degree of mapping in Taiwan, but some relevant departments which are like Geography or Surveying constantly focus on the study of mapping. Besides, we can also find other fields are going on the issues relating with cartography. How many fields studying mappings are there? How are they going? It is worthy for the cartography field to consider about and study. In order to study the development of Taiwan local cartography research, this paper tries to use theses and dissertations relating with mapping to analyze the trend of cartography in Taiwan. To focus on 115 theses and dissertations about cartographic researches during 1977-2003 in Taiwan, and to analyze the variables about cartographic issues, departments, years, degrees, the title of papers and keywords. The consequences of study theses and dissertations relating with cartography in Taiwan, and the increasing of the cartography-related papers published in journals are highly relative. After analyzing the development of different categories by years, it shows the trends of these relative issues about GIS mapping, computer cartography, cognitive map, and cartographic education are increasing. Because the rapid development of computer mapping software, it affects more and more relative fields' interests on mapping studying, and led to the study issues of cartography more diverse.
