本篇研究論文，共分五章。第一章，前言。在前言部分，說明研究動機與研究方法。「大患若身」是老子思想重要的論題之一，吸引筆者深入研究探討，本文牽涉身心運作調整關係，為清楚說明其中的關聯，參考近代有關身體方面的論述。第二章，老子的身體觀。分別從《老子》文本「身」的釋義、老子重「身體」基本需求、強調「身體」的柔軟、身心運作模式等四個方面來探討老子的身體觀。第三章，老子診察「身體」的大患之症，分別從慾望之患、知見之患、言說之患三方面來論述身體的大患之症。第四章，老子調治「身體」大患之方，分別從「觀」的識別、「反」認知、無為的力量等三種方法來調整轉化身體衍生的大患。第五章，結論。老子思想著眼於個體自身改變，進而外在的世界隨即跟著改變，這是最好解除大患的妙方，與西方超心理治療從個人的角色、自我轉化，進而躍升與一體宇宙意識的融合，有許多相似的巧妙之處。

This study consists of five chapters. Chapter 1 introduces the research motivation and methodology. “Da Huan Ruo Shen”(Great Suffering from the Body) is one of the most important arguments in Lao Tzu’s thoughts, which also motivates the researcher to investigate in depth. This study concerns the regulative operating relationship between the body and mind. In order to clarify their relationship, this study also incorporates the western research on the body theory. Chapter 2 explains Lao Tzu’s views on the body from four aspects respectively, the written explanation for the body, the basic requirements for caring the body, the emphasis on the body’s flexibility, and the operative model of the body and mind. Chapter 3 discusses Lao Tzu’s diagnoses on body’s suffering from three aspects, the suffering from desire, from cognition and from speech. Chapter 4 explores Lao Tzu’s prescriptions for adjusting the body. It analyzes three methods respectively, from the identification of observing, the anti-cognition, and the power of “wu-wei”(non-action). Chapter 5 is conclusion. Lao Tzu’s thoughts emphasize that individual’s body change enables further outward change, which is the best prescription for reliving great suffering. This argument also shares several similarities with western super-mental therapy, which begins with individual role, self-transformation, and then further expands to the integration of consciousness into the whole universe.
