此技術為一個可以提供5V輸出電壓和500mA電流輸出的切換式直流升壓器(Boost Converter),其主要是利用切換的方式來達成升壓的目的,如此便能具有非常高的功率轉換效率,能夠讓產品避免因耗電量過大及溫度過高所造成的可靠度的問題。除此之外,升壓器還包含了可以藉由數位調變器(DPWM)以達到其超低電壓啟動與低侵入電流(Inrush Current)的最佳表現。切換式直流升壓器主要可應用於汽車、工業、微處理器及可攜裝置,如行動電話、數位相機及筆記型電腦等。其主要的優點為高功率轉換效率、低功率消耗、高輸出電流等。
The technology is a Boost DC-DC switching converter, which can provide up to 500mA output loading. Because the converter can reach the boost function by using switching, so it has very high efficiency. Due to high efficiency, the portable power management can prevent from the reliability problem. The reliability problem may be caused by large current or high temperature. In additional, this proposed Boost DC-DC switching converter operating in CCM mode incorporates a digital pulse width modulator (DPWM) to enhance the input range and greatly reduce the inductor inrush current. With the DPWM technique, the boost converter can operate at an input voltage from 1V to 4.6V, while generating a output voltage up to 5V in TSMC 0.25um 2.5V/5.0V CMOS technology.
