隨著手持式裝置的快速發展,高效能的處理器晶片(CPU)已成為手持式產品強調的重點之一。但伴隨高運算能力而來的則是增加了系統的耗電, 要解決這樣的問題, 除了加大電池容量外,開發兼顧效能及耗能的處理器已是手持式裝置及晶片廠商無法廻避的挑戰。本文主旨在分析ARM新一代晶片省電技術大小核的架構與軟體,透過使用效能與功耗的評估方法,分析比較大小核架構和軟體技術的優劣。之後並結合了small task理論, 修改及優化作業系統中的排程演算法,對節省功耗部分作更進一步的改良, 使系統功耗降低約33%。通過這些技術實現,提供了另一種高效能和低功耗平衡的解決方案。

英文摘要

With the rapid development of the handheld device, the high-performance processor (CPU) has become one of the handheld emphases. Higher system computing power consumes more electrical power. To solve this problem, the most direct way is to increase the battery capacity. The processor has been developed taking into account the performance and power saving cannot escape the challenges of a handheld device and chip manufacturers. In this paper, we focus on the analysis and discussion of the ARM new generation
chip power-saving technology - big.LITTLE architecture and software. By performance and power evaluation method, we have analysis and comparison of big.LITTLE architecture and software technologies. Besides, we optimize the operating system scheduler with small task algorithm and further improve power consumption.With this technology, saving 30% system power and it provides another solution that can achieve high performance and low power consumption balance.
