The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships among maximal oxygen consumption (V02max) measured by treadmill run, 3-minute step test, and 2-minute side step test with recovery heart rates. Subjects (N=13) were fouth graders primary school children with average age, height and weight of 10.3 ± 0.3 yrs,137.2±3.9cm and 34.5±6.7Kg,respectively. For measuring recovery heart rate of 1,2, and 3 minutes, a step test with 24 ascents/min and a height of 30.48cm and a side step test with a line of 1Meter long and 5cm width were used. The measured V02max was significantly correlated with recovery heart rate of l' - l' 30 following the 2-minute side step test(r=-.76, P <.01) and the 3-minute step test(r=-.58, p<.05). the finding of the study shows that thq recovery heart rate of side step test is a more reliable predictors of v'02max in the 4th graders, compared with the 3-minute step-test.
